Dear Stephen,

I'm intrigued by this post and would like to discuss it further with you, if you'd be interested and/or willing to be quoted in a book I'm working on with my colleagues at the University of Notre Dame. In short, the purpose of this book is to provide an overview of major developments in the liturgical practices of Anglosphere Christian churches in the past fifty years. My chapter focuses on recent developments in the worship styles and practices of evangelical Protestant churches and affiliated groups. Since this post addresses many of the issues I've been noting and considering (the retrieval of 'liturgical' worship by certain Protestant groups/denominations, the 'liturgies' of contemporary Protestants, etc.), I'm very keen on hearing more of your thoughts, if you'd be willing to share them.

Here's some info on me: I'm a Protestant Ph.D. student in the Liturgical Studies track of the Department of Theology at Notre Dame. My undergraduate studies were completed at Biola University in La Mirada, CA, where I also met C.J. Casciotta of who was, in fact, the one who directed me to Slingshot group.

Thanks for your consideration!

Great article Monty. I especially believe that artists must connect with, be inspired by, and create for the local church. Specifically, it's when local artists begin to look for fame outside of the local context, that the love in our hearts becomes misappropriated or misaligned. We are only allowed to lift our eyes to Christ, not industry. That doesn't mean that we can't believe the promises Jesus has made to us or his dreams in our hearts.

Good stuff, Monty. The story will be told, in every conceivable way (and those "ways" are being multiplied exponentially everyday). I always am a bit concerned with the overload of visual (and musical) stimulation, to the diminishing of the story. By prayer and talking together with leaders, that can be mitigated and the Story told with power.
Keep it up!!!

Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. <a href="http://www.rankandpillage.biz" rel="nofollow">WordPress Seo Plugin</a>

I once was leading a song at a college group. The Line was "there is no god like our God." Without thinking, I told a couple hundred college Students "SING IT LOUDLY, THERE IS NO GOD!" Only after did I learn of my mistake from a friend. Most people didn't notice, thank goodness.

Thanks for this. Great thoughts! I am reminded of the context of the oft-quoted Jeremiah 29:11. It blew my mind the first time I read that in context (vs. 5-7):

"Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. 6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare."

If that is not about laying roots, I don't know what is!

You could add:

"Um singers... sing that breathier with less 'churchy' vibrato."

"Let's really be mindful of the words to this song"

-or-

"Can you add some more delay to that?"
